During the 2010s, the Besòs i el Maresme neighbourhood underwent significant improvements to its amenities and services following decades of neighbourhood advocacy. Improvements were made to schools, sports facilities and community spaces, strengthening social cohesion and the identity of the neighbourhood. These interventions helped address some of the historic shortcomings resulting from the rapid development of the area during the 1950s and 1960s. At the same time, the growth of local civic organisations, together with sustained public investment, contributed to improving the urban environment and establishing a community firmly rooted in the metropolitan area.
