The brand was launched in Spain through a partnership between Sherwin-Williams and Uralita, with Sant Adrià de Besòs as its industrial base.
Procolor’s history in Spain began in 1955 with a partnership between Sherwin-Williams, based in the United States, and Spain’s Uralita Group. The aim was to establish industrial paint production by combining international technology with a local distribution network. The factory in Sant Adrià de Besòs became one of the partnership’s main production sites, introducing advanced manufacturing processes adapted to the Spanish market. This period saw the transfer of technical expertise, the development of in-house industrial capabilities, and the emergence of a distinct corporate identity, culminating in the creation of Industrias Químicas Procolor, S.A. in 1973.
