In 2006, AkzoNobel, the owner of the Procolor brand, sold the Sant Adrià site to a property development company, although production continued there while plans were being drawn up for a new, more efficient plant in the Barcelona area. This period involved in-house restructuring and the modernisation of manufacturing processes, as the company prepared to transfer operations to the new state-of-the-art facility where the technical expertise built up over decades could be appled.
