The new neighbourhood reflected the growth in the working-class population as a result of industry and immigration.

In 1922, the Font i Vinyals housing development—the precursor to today’s Sant Joan Baptista neighbourhood—began to take shape. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, the area expanded with the arrival of workers and the gradual introduction of basic services. In 1935, the parish promoted the name change to Sant Joan Baptista, reinforcing the community’s identity in contrast to the former village centre. The neighbourhood’s growth reflected the urban transformation of Sant Adrià de Besòs, where residential expansion developed alongside industry and successive waves of migration, creating new spaces for community life and neighbourhood cohesion.
